delete your account

last updated

You can permanently delete your Budgeroo account and its data from your profile, or ask us by email.

delete in the app

  1. Open settings from the more menu on the envelopes screen.
  2. Open “profile”.
  3. Choose “delete all data and account”.
  4. Read the confirmation and confirm deletion. The app signs you out when it finishes.

This cannot be undone. You will need to create a new account to use the app again.

cancel your subscription separately

Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not stop store billing. Use “manage subscription” before deleting, or cancel in Apple or Google Play settings. See our cancellation steps.

request deletion by email

If you cannot use the app, open the email request below. It fills in the subject and a short request form in your email app. Add the email address linked to your account and your sign-in method, then send it. We may ask you to confirm account ownership before deleting anything.

email a deletion request

If the link does not open, email contact@obverselabs.com with the subject “Budgeroo account deletion request”. You do not need to reinstall the app. Do not send your password or budgeting details.

what gets deleted

Deletion removes your sign-in account, email, name, settings, envelopes, transactions, budget history, scheduled bills and saved favorites from our active systems. We request deletion of your RevenueCat customer record and revoke Sign in with Apple access when a revocation token is available. In the production app, your analytics person and its events are erased from PostHog.

what may remain

We keep two pseudonymous deletion records for 13 months, with no email or budgeting data: an audit entry with the date and a keyed hash (HMAC-SHA-256) of your account identifier, and a plain SHA-256 hash of the identifier that stops a deleted account from being used again. We also keep operational logs for up to 30 days. Backup copies expire under our backup schedule, currently up to 35 days. They are not used to restore your account for normal use. We may retain records required by law or to resolve a dispute for as long as that need applies.

Apple and Google keep payment records under their own policies. We confirm completion of email requests after verifying ownership and applying any legally required exceptions. Privacy requests normally receive a response within one month, or 45 days where California law applies. We will explain any permitted extension.

Our privacy policy explains your other data rights.
